Created by DuPont ™, Corian® is a unique and durable material that can be moulded, sculpted, cut or spliced into any shape or size, engraved, frosted and even back-lit.
Used to create flat and curved surfaces with high functionality and aesthetic performance, Corian® remains unchanged over time: easy to clean, durable and renewable as and when desired, and associated with a wide range of colours.
Technical features of the material
Before processing, the material comes in sheets in different thicknesses, which may be cut, thermoformed and jointed together with a special adhesive that gives the finished product an ongoing aspect.
Corian® is able to transform itself constantly and adapt to new creative versions, offering a great freedom in design.
Safe and sustainable
Corian® is an extremely safe material for surfaces – because it is non-porous, it is stain resistant: it has a low composition of VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds).
It’s composed by roughly 1/3 high quality acrylic resin and 2/3 natural minerals (aluminum trihydrate) with the addition of coloured pigments: once their combination is completed (polymerization) in the production process, the ingredients are transformed into a chemically stable material with minimal impact on indoor air quality.
Corian® is renewable: it can easily be repaired and restored, and even re-worked to realise other variations, minimizing replacement and reducing recycling requirements.
Corian’s® hygiene performance has proven to be superior to those of many conventional surfacing materials, as certified by the results of tests done by the independent German organization LGA QualiTest Gmbh. This makes DuPont ™ Corian® ideal for indoor applications (kitchen tops, partitions, washbasins, sinks …) and many more other applications in the health sector.
